Surrey Hills Vineyards photography competition
We have been absolutely thrilled to host our very first Surrey Hills Vineyards Photography Competition this year - a chance for vineyard visitors and photographers to showcase their creativity and capture the magic of the Surrey Hills wine route.
From sweeping seasonal landscapes to atmospheric events, you brought every corner of the Surrey Hills to life with your photos of our beautiful Vineyards of the Surrey Hills: Albury Organic Vineyard, Chilworth Manor Vineyard, Denbies Wine Estate, Greyfriars Vineyard, High Clandon Estate Vineyard and Tanhurst Estate Vineyard (note: Soloms Court Wine Estate is not currently open to the public).
Judged by John Mobbs from Great British Wine, our lucky winner (announced below) walks away with a mixed case of wines representing the award-winning craftsmanship of all our vineyards - a true celebration of Surrey Hills excellence.
Thank you to everyone who shared their photos with us - the standard of entries was truly fantastic, and you made this inaugural competition something very special. It was an absolute joy to see the Vineyards of the Surrey Hills through your eyes. Cheers!
Meet the judge…
Great British Wine founder, John Mobbs, started his English wine journey as a prolific reviewer on popular wine app Vivino. After relocating to Surrey in 2013, he discovered great wines were on his doorstep, and set about exploring the world of English wine, launching the website in 2015. Now a self-appointed Great British Wine ambassador, he has a mission to explore all corners of the UK to uncover the best producers and most exciting wines. Discover Great British Wine here.
And the winner is…
Albury Vineyard by Marc Grundy
The overall winner was selected as it essentially says everything about the Vineyards of the Surrey Hills in a single photo. Beautiful locations, wonderful sights, and overall a great day out for the whole family.
Highly Commended
Denbies Wine Estate by Jayne Kemp
There were lots of superb shots of Denbies Wine Estate in the competition, but this one in particular stood out. I think it’s the contrast of the autumn colours - a stunning time to visit a vineyard - against the dramatic slopes of the vineyard.
Albury Vineyard by Jose Melmar Vila
And for the final shot I’ve selected, I thought there was just something so natural and calming about it. He’s just sitting there enjoying the wine and taking in the views, and again, it shows that it doesn’t have to be a warm summer’s day to get out in the vineyard and enjoy the surroundings. It just captures the mood so perfectly.
