Morning: Greyfriars Vineyard
Take a short taxi journey from Guildford Station to Greyfriars Vineyard, where vines flourish on the chalk slopes of the North Downs. Known for its award-winning English sparkling wines, this family-run estate offers the chance to wander among the vines on a self-guided walk or discover the winemaking process with a pre-booked tour and tasting.
Afternoon: Albury Vineyard
Continue east to Albury Organic Vineyard, tucked into the Surrey Hills near the picturesque Silent Pool. Discover its commitment to organic and biodynamic winemaking, sample its distinctive English sparkling wines and linger over a cheese or charcuterie platter with views across the vines.
Travel tip: Saturday is an ideal day to follow this itinerary, with Greyfriars and Albury both welcoming visitors, although seasonal opening hours are worth checking in advance. Taxis or pre-arranged transport are the easiest way to travel between the vineyards.
For those with a sense of adventure: Why not explore the Surrey Hills on foot? The walk between Greyfriars and Albury vineyards offers the chance to soak up the beautiful countryside, following scenic trails including sections of the North Downs Way. It's a substantial walk, however, so allow several hours and be sure to plan your route and timings before setting off.
